Lamar Raine Artist Profile From a graphic design background, Lamar Raine came to Europe in 1971 and worked in the advertising and publishing industry. When she had children, portraiture became the main focus of her art, using conté crayon for her expressive and reflective drawings. This is a type of chalk developed in the 18th century. Although a specialist in children’s portraiture, any age is considered.

Working from life with only a one hour sitting she aims to capture the essence of her sitters, ideally in their own home where she will travel to make the preliminary sketches. These are then used as the basis for her finished drawing which is then produced in her London studio and delivered within one month. Her materials are all acid free, museum quality. Lamar is regularly commissioned throughout Britain, Barbados and America and her work can be viewed in several London galleries.
