A first class portrait of your loved ones is a lifelong gift. Lamar Raine is a portraitist, working from commission, using conté crayon for her expressive and reflective drawings. This is a type of chalk developed in the 18th century.
Coming from a graphic design education, combined with an illustration career in book jacket design, Lamar began drawing her own children. She loves working with young people, and they find her sittings a most enjoyable experience, with her natural sense of humour and ability to communicate in a fun way with them. Although a specialist in children’s portraiture, her subjects can be adults, and she also accepts commissions to draw pets.
Working from life, with only a one hour sitting, Lamar aims to capture the essence of her sitters, ideally in their own home, using a proven process that includes preliminary sketches and photographs as the basis for her finished masterpiece.
Her portraits are brought to perfection in her London studio. All materials are acid free, museum quality and can be accompanied by an exclusive Campbell’s Handmade Frame, complete with guarantee. Lamar is regularly commissioned throughout Britain, Barbados and America. Her work can be viewed in several London galleries, including Campbell’s.
The finished drawing measures 58 x 49cm and is presented in a quality, washlined, bevelled mount, handcrafted on acid free museum board with hinged backing. We can work with you to select the ideal Campbell’s Handmade Frame to complement the image. The entire portrait experience takes four weeks, with fees starting from £1950 unframed.
